The first ever complete Father, MOTHER, boys and girls, camped out in the tent with some friends. We had a blast around the campfire and sang some songs and played games. Everyone did great. Joni did great! She loved it and can't wait to go again.
We had a great Easter Day. We met for a Kahvalti (Breakfast) and hunted eggs.
Elijah's class had a special celebration for Childrens' day. He had fun, eventhough he may not look like it. :) He sang his song in Turkish. Here are the words...
Bayramların en hasıdır
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
Milletin kalbin sesidir
(Bütün ulusun sesidir)
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
Bir güneş misali doğdu
Kara karanlığı boğdu
Atatürk'ten armağandır
(Ata'mızdan armağandır)
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
Yılda kutlanır bir günlük
Sevgi dolu yoktur benlik
Ulusal hem egemenlik
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
Bu bayramı bu bayramı
Ata'mızın armağanı
Gençlik hep seni anacak
Gönül verdi açtı kucak
Ebediyen yaşayacak
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
(Ulusal kardeş bayramı)
Bu bayramı bu bayramı
Türkiye'min can bayramı
Üstündağ'ım seni çözdüm
Senin için şiir düzdüm
Gönlümün içine yazdım
(Kalbimin içine yazdım)
Yirmi üç nisan bayramı
Bu bayramı bu bayramı
Şanlı Ata'mın bayramı
(Atatürk'ün armağanı)
Troop 344 went on an orienteering hike. Using compasses and maps.
We had the blessing of being involved with a Turkish friend. This was a really great event, only the second time that I've been able to be involved with while being here. He's officially a brother now.
March 09
We got to go ride horses one day. Another day, we played some music in a public area near the ocean here. It was a blast. We played our normal Sunday morning music plus 'free bird'. I had a mandlin solo that brought the house down. :)
